I wanted to drop a note about the collective progress of our students at The Dojo.
TIGERS – With this age group we are showing them how to follow basic instructions, teaching basic protocols and improving the effectiveness of them moving their bodies. They are learning the foundational drills that prepare them for the next level. Respect, balance, control. I’d have to say our little guys and girls have been doing great. A+
JUNIORS – With these guys we look more. Because of the fact that we don’t have to remind them to stay in line or on their spots we focus more on higher level tech. We have been working of sparring “movement” which give them an understanding of getting themselves into a better position offensively and defensively. Their forms have been crisp and self-defense is looking good. Also having great conversations about gratitude and confidence. Higher ranking students are put in leadership positions whether it be leading the entire group or smaller groups. Something that really sticks out is you can “hear” the power in their kicks & punches. Awesome. A+
TEENS – We are really pleased with what’s going on in this class. Everyone is working hard and gaining confidence every class. The best part about this class are the friendships that are being made and the conversations that are happening (without a cell phone). They really do speak to each other!!! The skills being taught in this class are done at a higher level. There is no “I can’t do that” it’s more like “How can I do that”. Last year we all laughed at how many teens came to The Dojo because of the series Cobra Kai (For me it was Bruce Lee). Thank goodness for Cobra Kai because teens being cool at The Dojo is a much better option than acting cool elsewhere. A+
ADULTS – Adults have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders but not many are more important than their own well-being. Our adult students have been crushing it. Working hard in a group, by themselves with their friends (not facebook, real). These men and women understand that they must push hard to be the best version of themselves. Stress relief, cardio vascular endurance and learning self-defense is high on the priority list. I’m proud to be surrounded by people who hold themselves to this high standard. A+
